Each version of the DustDisc gauge is supplied with 2 DustDisc cases to allow for continuous dust deposition sampling. NO SPECIALIST PROCEDURES ARE NEEDED IN THE FIELD TO COLLECT AND EXCHANGE THE SAMPLES.
DustDisc sticky pad dust samples should be collected over the period of 1 – 2 weeks. When the DustDisc is used in conjunction with our directional dust gauges (the DS100-D and DS500-D), comparisons can be made between the deposited dust data and the directional flux data more readily when sampling periods are regular and synchronized. We strongly recommend using our combined directional and depositional gauges as determining the direction of a dust source is of far greater significance in dust nuisance investigations than deposition rates alone.
The DustDisc 1.7 can be used to replace “traditional” Frisbee-type deposit gauges. Some Local Authorities and consultancies still specify such gauges and require monthly sampling. The DustDisc 1.7 is set at the specified frsibee sampling height (as recommended by the SEI-Y protocol). With our new sticky pads (see R & D tab) DustDisc samples are especially suitable for our new gravimetric analysis. Our new sticky pads enable us to remove the dust after sealing, this means we can provide gravimetric (mg/m2/day) as well as optical (AAC% and EAC%) dust deposition data.
As with our other samplers, DustDisc samples must be returned to DustScan offices for analysis. DustDisc samples are removed from their protective cases and sealed using a transparent film. Sealed sticky pads represent a permanent record of collected dust which can be used for additional investigations (e.g. dust characterisation) or proof of evidence at a later date.
