Site Equipment
The DustScan DS100 field equipment used for monitoring has been designed to be robust, inexpensive and unobtrusive and comprises three main components:
The stand
Comprises a durable and resilient post. The dust collection or monitoring cylinder is fitted to the top of the stand and is held in place with a screw-on rain cap. The stand is installed on site by setting in concrete, secured in a steel post holder or attached to an existing structure. The north position is located using the alignment tool and fixed by inserting a peg into the stand in the appropriate position.
The mounting cylinder
Holds a dust collection slide (sticky pad) that provides a 360 exposure around the installation. The collection slide is designed to fit the cylinder exactly and has pre-scored backing paper to enable simple exposure and sealing. A notch on the cylinder orientates it to north by fitting into the peg on the stand.
The carrying flask
Is used to prevent sample contamination after removal from the stand. The end caps are recessed to locate the mounting cylinder securely and away from contact
with the sides. The flasks are returned for analysis in the purpose-made 6 compartment carrying case.
