Processing the data
The sticky pad processing procedure is the same as the DS100. After the pads are exposed in the field, they are returned to our offices and sealed. This provides a permanent record of the collected dust which may be used for additional investigations (geochemistry, mineralogy etc). The samples are then scanned on a flat bed scanner for subsequent directional analysis.
Frisbee sample bottles are also returned to our offices along with the sticky pads for the same monitoring period. Frisbee samples are processed in our laboratory where we use vacuum filtration to remove suspended solids for subsequent quantification.
