Relevant Dust Monitoring Guidance
Key relevant publications that are regularly used by our team include:
- The Institute of Air Quality Management “Guidance on the Assessment of Mineral Dust Impacts for Planning“: This document outlines a methodology for estimating the impacts of new minerals development. DustScan employees contributed to this dust guidance.
- The Institute of Air Quality Management “Assessment of dust from demolition and construction” (2023 update): This guidance provides an approach for assessing construction dust and estimating its impacts on receptors near construction sites, including recommended dust control measures.
- The Environment Agency “Monitoring Particulate Matter in Ambient Air around Waste Facilities” (M17, Version 2, 2013): This technical guidance sets out dust monitoring standards for waste facilities, including the use of sticky pad dust monitors.
- The Institute of Air Quality Management “Air Quality Monitoring in the Vicinity of Demolition and Construction Sites“: This guidance provides dust monitoring recommendations for construction sites, including both sticky pad dust monitoring and real-time air quality monitoring methods. DustScan employees contributed to this publication.
- AEA Report to The Mineral Industry Research Organisation (MIRO) “Good Practice Guide: Control and Measurement of Nuisance Dust and PM10 from the Extractive Industries”: This guide highlights the best practices for using sticky pad dust monitors and implementing appropriate mitigation measures in the extractive industries.
