The DustScan Cloud is an innovative low-cost continous dust monitor, reporting in real-time. The total cost of ownership is intended to be the lowest in the UK market for equivalent monitors. It uses an Optical Particle Counter to measure PM1, PM2.5 and PM10, deriving particulate mass concentration in microgrammes per cubic metre of air (µg/m3), and an algorithm corrects for temperature and humidity.
It sends data to the cloud (internet), and is designed for low electricity consumption so that it can be run off-grid using solar panels. Data can be viewed and managed via an internet interface, or sent to other data management software.
It is designed to be small, light and easy to use, with simple functionality.
It measures particle numbers in 24 size bins from 0.3 µm to 30 µm, and uses an algorithm to correct to particulate matter mass, which assumes a specific particle density.
It is designed specifically to meet the criteria for fence-line PM10 monitoring set out in the:
HS2 Code of Construction Practice
Greater London Authority’s Supplementary Planning Guidance ‘The Control of Dust and Emissions during Construction and Demolition’
Institute of Air Quality Management ‘Guidance on Monitoring in the Vicinity of Demolition and Construction Sites’
